Hey Guys!

There's a spooky ghost hunt coming up in the haunted 'Old House' at Coundon Court Academy, Coventry (which is my school). If you come, do watch out for George Singer and his maid because they are ghostly ghosts said to still walk the landings. Also, keep an eye out for the lion heads on the stairs!

We have a professional, award winning organisation, Spookhunters coming in to host the event.

Tickets on sale very soon so keep a look out. How to get them will be posted here. There are only a limited amount to tickets, so get in first to be at this exciting event.

Allesley Fete

The fete went really well, I sold all my old toys and raised £70 which is very good and has moved me even closer to the target of £2,100. Yay!

One of the really weird things that I sold was a rubber man face puppet that you can make weird faces out of. I made the boy who bought it really laugh. It's great to make people happy.

Scouts Open Day

Hey Guys!

The wet sponge throwing at the open day went reeeeeeaaally well. I managed to raise £84, wow, amazing £84, closer to my target for letting people throw wet sponges at me. There was a down side though I got extremely wet and cold! I was as cold as a snowman in the Arctic - slight exaggeration but you get my drift.

Thanks guys for all of your support - it was great seeing you all.

Been a long time!

Hey Guys!

Sorry it's been a while. I've been off on a school trip to Belgium and down to the Malvern Challenge with 1st Coventry Scouts. My team came 9th out of 401!! Both went well but now I'm back I'm fully back on the fundraising trail. Lots of news to come so I'll put a few updates now then post things as they come up. There's A LOT happening.

Raft Race Day

The raft race on Saturday was a very enjoyable day. There were four other people on the raft, two explorers, another scout, and a leader. They are all going to the Caribbean as well.

We had to paddle for three miles from Leamington Spa to Warwick. Our raft was called "scouting for the Caribbean" and it was made out of pioneering poles, ropes, and barrels. We got soaked whenever a raft went past us, or we went past them because the other rafters had buckets of water, flour bombs and water pistols. Luckily during the day I didn't fall in, not even when we had to cross the wear, which was all slippery. When we tried to get the raft out of the water at the end, the bank that was under water was really muddy, and my trainers just sank in.  Overall it took us a bit over two hours to complete the race. It will be very nice if I can also get my scout group interested to enter in the future.

I have put some of the pictures from the day on my Facebook Page. Check them out by clicking this link Many thanks to Phil Fry from 3rd Warwick scouts for organising our entry and acting as team leader, and everybody who sponsored me. There is still time to sponsor me if you would like to, through paypal using the e-mail victoriareed@tiscali.co.uk (my mum!).

First Training Day

My first training day went well. Everyone was very friendly and I made friends. We had a number of ice breaking games through out the day. One was the human knot where you have to stand in a circle, everyone puts their right hand into the middle and grabs hold of somebody else right hand. The same in then done with the left hands then you have to get out of the knot without letting go. It was good because everyone worked as a team and came up with ideas to get out however we were still knotted by the end.

We were doing an unusual fact game where you had facts and you had to go round the room and ask people what their fact was. The most unusual fact was that somebody had slept in a pineapple!

As group we came up with a new necker to wear for the expedition and training days it will be the British necker i.e. red, white & blue with the Carib2015 logo on the back.

The expedition will be going to Antigua, Anguilla and / or St. Kitts & Nevis. Exact location is to be finalised. We will be doing some community work while we are there possibly renovating a building for community use. At the camps we will be staying in two man tents and be cooking our own food using local ingredients. We will be practising cooking and other skills at the training weekends. We found out that in the Caribbean they eat a lot of fish, curried goat and yams. The food seems very tasty and colourful. I am looking forward to trying the food with all the spices.

To raise money the Coventry expedition members will be having a Laughter Yoga session. Date and place to be announced. I'll keep you updated.

Events Coming Up

I have three events coming up one of then is the raft race that you will have seen in one of my previous posts. A couple of the new things are:

Scout Hut Open Day - You will be able to throw we sponges at me for a charge of course! So if you want a bit of mischief, have a go.

There will also be Chocolate Bingo at the Scout hut later on in the year.
Details will be posted here and on my FB page in due course.

First training day on Sunday. I have to take some Caribbean food. I been looking through recipe books and have some ideas. I don't quite know what yet but it will involve sweetcorn and probably a bit of chilli!

I'll tell you about the training day and how it went next week.

Keep watching :-)

Thursday 29 May 2014

I am quite nervous about my first training day that is coming soon because I am meeting people that I have never seen before but I am also excited for the same reason. I am hoping it will be similar to the WSJ selection day because I really enjoyed that. The funniest thing that we did was that we had to make a bridge out of paper and climb under it without touching it. I got covered in mud!

I've had some thoughts about some fundraising raising events. I'll keep you updated.

Raft Race on the 'Scouting for the Caribbean'

I am part of a group of Coventry & Warwickshire Scouts that is entering the raft race where we have to build a raft then travel on the River Leam. It is starting from Jepheson Gardens Leamington and finishing at St. Nicholas Park, Warwick. The raft will be called Scouting for the Caribbean.
